Today was apparently national - "mulitple choice decision on what side of the road you're driving on today day" - well it was either than or the Wellington transit system had succumbed, in toto, to mass intoxication.
Normally, it's the pedestrians who are insane, today, the drivers were scarier; although I have heard it stated in counter argument that Wellington drivers have learned their weaving skills solely to avoid the lemming-like behaviour of the Wellington pedestrians.

Two days until the National Elections. You have to give the two main parties credit, never have I seen such a concerted effort by two political parties to give the voting public so many reasons not to vote for them. It's spectacular, both sides seem to be going out of their way to discredit themselves. If either group shut up for just five minutes, they'd hear the sound of their opponents shooting themselves in the foot (multiple times, I might add) and they'd know they were going to win. But no. The sound of foot-aligned gunfire only appears to persuade them that political-self-multilation is the latest in win-at-all-costs strategies.

Someone needs to bring in an engineer or two to check out the gyros holding the various spin doctors together.

The above confusion would normally provide an opportunity for a minor party to make an impact, to create that little bit of electoral credibility that would in some shape or form allow them access the some part of the mantle of power; but no, the minor parties seem to be doing all they can to either provide themselves with a bigger calibre weapon in order, no doubt, to show that they are equally capable of shooting themselves in the foot just as well as the major parties or marginalising themselves to the point where, to borrow a phrase, the lord god almighty couldn't find them with a radio-telescope.

As for myself, I have no idea as to whom I will vote for. Nominally, I am pretty centrist, if only because I think that both Left and Right wings are so self-absorbed as to be exercises in logical redundancy; that is, they'll promise you the world, only to unveil their plan for blowing up said world the day after they're elected the day before the election. Even the lone centrist party has been taken over by a moral majority(?) so po-faced that one fears that if they grab any significant measure of power, then smiling, and anything else that could be construed as indicating a measure of enjoyment with life, will be banned due to its obviously licentious and anti-family overtones.

There is always the option not to vote; but then I can't bitch and moan.

Where are all the anarchists with bombs when you need them?
